In this episode Shri Gurumurthy and I discuss what factors made India very prosperous historically until the early 19th century, and what has made certain Indian communities thrive in recent decades.
It becomes clear that family and community cohesiveness have been very important for economic development, whereas the Western model of centralized top-down state programs have failed in the West.
India must not continue to slide further into Western development models given its specific circumstances. both good and bad. The discussion explores Indian development models and offers concrete proposals.
