Honeybees being the major pollinator on this planet, are in a critically endangered situation due to excessive and irresponsible exploitation of forests by the humans. The honeybees just not only transfer the pollen, but are also responsible for the existence of life, formation of new seeds and sustainability of species. Prof Kavya will speak on the ecological significance of Indian and Italian bees, their role in ecosystem restoration and what measures can be now taken to control the damage done by harming honeybees to sustain the life on this planet.

Prof Kavya is working at Centre for Rural Development and Technology at IIT Delhi. She has a vast experience of working with Commonwealth organizations and United Nations serving in different developed and developing countries, addressing the economic, ecological and environmental issues. She is a certified global expert in food security, gender based technology and impact assessment of gender centric technology applications. Her key areas of research focus are food adulterations, access and benefit sharing and international compliances to food safety
